I gave him his wine and settled into my ale.

“Tell me, who was that Nubian woman you were with?” he asked.

I let a lusty grin light up my face. “Nice looking woman, eh? Here with her husband. They have some very cosmopolitan ideas for being from the country.”

This is an original story, chronicling how three of the characters of my upcoming novelette, The Vampire’s Gallery, met.
