The amphora of wine fell from my hands when they entered. Tall and straight, with blue black skin and white flashing teeth, they came from far away, a land beyond the borders of Nubia. Their bright garments and wide beaded collars marked them as royalty from among their people. Gold flashed on their wrists—it was their first time in the city. What could they want with my mean little inn? Surely some noble would be willing to host them, if only for the chance to seduce the beautiful couple.

Please note: This is set around 1 BC, and is light when it comes to historical accuracy. I mean, no one’s going to whip out some matches or a PSP, but there are probably details I’ll get wrong.
